The film opens with Elinor Dashwood (Camilla Belle) studying law and Marianne Dashwood (Alexa PenaVega) shopping on Rodeo Drive. They head to their home, Casa Bonita, for their father's birthday. While the girls are dancing with their father, he collapses and dies.
